Macrae Edinburgh see Videojet benefits

9 August 2011

Macrae Edinburgh (part of The Seafood Company) opened their new premises in Livingston in May 2007. The 6000m² premises are one of the most modern seafood production facilities anywhere in Europe.

They produce hot and cold smoked seafood, prepared shellfish and hand-crafted value-added products in partnership with Waitrose – the quality food shops of the John Lewis partnership. The £10M facility at Livingston has allowed Macrae Edinburgh to double its production capacity.

Videojet have been supporting Macrae with their inkjet coding requirements for the past 4 years after replacing the aging competitor equipment that was onsite. More recently Videojet has begun installing the new 1000 series range of inkjet printers.

Macrae Edinburgh has five Videojet 1510 inkjet printers coding “use by” information onto their various chilled seafood products. The machines are working in a demanding environment with consistently low temperatures of between 1-5 C°.

Steven Mclean, Engineering Manager, was pleased with the performance of the Videojet inkjet equipment, in particular the way it consistently operated in the cold conditions. The ease of use and smart cartridge system was another added benefit that satisfied Steven and his team.

Videojet have enjoyed their strong working relationship with Macrae and The Seafood Company and hope to continue to assist in their coding needs into the future.
